Course Information:
This training is designed to familiarize newly elected and appointed municipal clerks with their duties and responsibilities for this very important municipal office. Information will be provided to clerks from both small and large communities. Topics to be reviewed and discussed include: dog licensing, hunting, processing birth, marriage and death certificates, Election procedures such as preparing nomination papers, warrants, handling voter registration, conducting absentee voting and more; preparing meeting minutes and agendas, information on ordinances, conducting public hearings and administrating oaths of office, managing the appointments to the various town boards and committees and state monthly reporting procedures and more.
Day 2 of this training will provide an expanded opportunity for demonstrations and to address questions!
Certification: This class is an optional course for the Maine Town & City Clerks’ Association Certification Program. Participants must be present for the full day in order to receive a certificate of completion for the course.
MTCCA In-Person / Virtual Events Cancellations & Registration Policies
CANCELLATIONS:
All cancellations must be submitted using the official Cancellation Form to cancel your event registration.
- Cancellations received before April 8, 2026 will be assessed a $15 administrative processing fee.
- Cancellations received on or after April 8, 2026 will be charged 50% of the course fee.
- No-shows and same-day cancellations will be charged the full registration fee.
- No exceptions to this policy will be considered.

The Zoom link for the optional day 2 on 4/16/26 will be sent on 4/15/26.
